CONCEPTUAL THINKING, ANNOTATIONS, AND RELIEF INTERPRETATIONS
Independent Explorations | Advisor / External Input: Nate Hume, Perry Kulper, & Bea Martin
This exploration is rooted in the notion that architecture transcends mere utilitarian functions, operating as a medium that extends past conventional, normative, and technical purposes. The investigation delves into abstract expression and visual representation, embracing the nuances of intuitive design thinking and architectural composition. With a focused approach, the potential of conceptual drawing is explored. This method not only reshapes the way architecture is understood and interpreted by observers, but it also influences the architects themselves. Through the techniques of annotating, speculative drawing, relief modeling, and media logics; abstract drawings and relief studies will be produced to stimulate new ways of architectural thinking. With a central focus on expanding architectural perceptions through speculative and intuitive design methods, this study strives to broaden designers' technical operations while cultivating innovative approaches to design.
